Spiceworks IT Desktop is a free system management and IT management software, geared towards organizations with less than 250 devices on their network. It's a full featured program that can run on any PC with admin rights, and includes a reporting and monitoring module, as well as help desk functions. With a growing international user base of IT professionals, it can be a useful tool for small to medium sized non-profits as well.

- EZ to use....user friendly...only gives me the info I really need....ads are NOT INTRUSIVE...awesome work...wish list---wish there was a Computer BLUE book to compare my old computer to new computer reminds me if "remotely anywhere" product...but not free....

Easy to setup and use Web-based interface allows access from anywhere on the network (some assembly required of course) Excellent asset tracking and inventory tool Terrific help desk system for those who need one Fantastic reporting system for detailed information on your environment Perfect for single-person IT operation or multiple-tech departments Great community-based support as well as prompt, friendly staff always willing to answer questions Updated frequently with bug fixes and new features

- Not ideal for huge organizations Can be a little slow from time to time (but developers are constantly working on speed issues) Help desk uses POP-based e-mail which, for some, could be a security concern Cannot "brand" product in free version but for a reasonable fee can be personalized Doesn't make breakfast or julienne fries
Definitely get Spiceworks if you need a solid, reliable method to organize and track your assets. I've used it since its original beta and haven't looked back.
