Functional requirements are an organized list of what you need from a given technology product, vendor, or system. To evaluate different software packages, consider creating a functional-requirements spreadsheet that will allow you to compare software according to criteria based on your organization's needs.
In this file, you'll find an example of functional requirements developed for the database needs of a human-services organization that offered shelter services for homeless individuals and families.
