TechSoup Field Agreement

Use this document to summarize initial work with clients

November 10, 2005

Eating broccoli. Visiting the dentist. Drawing up contracts. These things are all good for you, but you probably dread them anyway.

Whether you're visiting a client's office to make a small repair or to perform a large overhaul, the best plan is to get everything in writing beforehand. While it can be tough to figure out what to include in your contract, there's no need to dread this step.

TechSoup's Field Agreement, attached below, is a good place to start. This document summarizes the initial work, helps define the project, establishes expectations, and gets everyone on the same page.

Before sending this contract to your client, be sure to fill in the information within the angle brackets -- your organization name, hourly rate, and contact information of the organization you're working with.
