These products are not endorsed or certified by us to be "Green", however, they can help you use fewer resources if you use them correctly. Get Hardware: Refurbished and Remanufactured
One of our missions at TechSoup Global is to supply low-cost refurbished IT equipment to nonprofits and libraries. Refurbished and remanufactured electronic devices provide the most environmentally friendly way to acquire and use computers, copiers and other IT equipment.
Perhaps most interesting finding is that 75 percent of PC energy consumption has already happened before a new computer is ever switched on. It is used up in the production phase. If this equipment has a six or seven year lifespan rather than three or four years, the environmental impact; of this for even a fraction of the 1.1 billion computers now in use in world will be immense.
Meet online to save money, time, and the environment. Audio and Web conferencing services allow organizations to meet and collaborate on the phone or Web and to record and save their conferences for later.
Provide secure remote access to computers, allowing administrators to resolve helpdesk and server support issues even when users are working away from the office.
Online document collaboration can be hosted on a wiki that is easy to set up and use. (A wiki is a type of Web site that allows users to add, remove, and edit all content very quickly and easily.)
Use online training instead of getting in a car or on a plane. e-Skills360° is a collection of 10 computer-based courses in IT, desktop skills, and professional development. The courses can be taken online or downloaded to a PC.
Many of these products are free or are discounted for nonprofits.
